Navajo-Churro sheep have a double coated fleece.  The outer coat is long and coarse.  The inner coat is soft and fine.  Navajo-Churro wool is very strong, durable and lustrous.  We shear once a year.  The staple length is typically 10-12 inches.

Our raw wool fleeces have been skirted to remove excess debris.  They have not been washed.  There is still the natural grease with some dirt.  Some vegetal matter may be found in the fleece.  Our sheep are not coated.  They live a natural life style.  See our raw wool washing instructions.

Fleece colors range from: White, Off-White, Red Mesa (shades of brown), Shades of Grey (Sliver, Light Grey and Dark Grey), Black, and Spotted.  Visit the wool roving page to see examples of fleece colors.  These are the natural wool colors so colors do vary.  White may have a few dark fibers.  Black and other dark colors may have a few lighter fibers.  The color may vary through an entire fleece.  The fleece color of a particular animal may change over it's lifetime.

Whole raw adult ewe fleeces currently available from these Navajo-Churro sheep.  SOLD OUT until spring 2015.
